The makers of DEVDAS were initially looking at releasing the film with a record number of 1000 prints all over the world, but the plans have been modified now. As of now, the film will be released with 350 prints in India and 250 in the overseas territory. Also, the original length of the film is 2.54 hours, which is now being shortened to 2.30 hours for the overseas market. DEVDAS has generated considerable excitement and according to its producer, Bharat Shah, their office has received endless calls from exhibitors all over the country wanting to open the advance booking for two weeks instead of the regular one-week advance booking. Meanwhile, a few theatres, where the trailers of the film are being screened, have now introduced the concept of advance booking coupons, besides an interesting questionnaire about the film and why the audience would like to see it.
