The inaugural Apsara Awards will be telecast live on the NDTV network on May 29 [today]. This is the first time an event of this magnitude will be telecast on a current affairs channel live. The move to telecast the main awards ceremony live on the NDTV network may come as a surprise and a definite shift from the tradition, which sees such programmes only on major entertainment channels.
CASTING OF VOTES CONCLUDES Members of the Film Producers' Guild of India have finished casting their votes in various categories for the inaugural Apsara Awards, to be held on May 29 [today].
The voting concluded at midnight on May 25. 130 of the 138 members of the Guild cast their ballots for various categories in both television and films. The fate of the 148 individual nominees [99 from films and 49 from television] and 24 production houses [10 from films and 14 from television], battling it out for the coveted Apsara trophy, will be revealed at a glittering ceremony to be held at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai.
FAROOQUE SHAIKH, SHRUTI SHARMA TO HOST Veteran actor Farooque Shaikh and ex Miss India-World 2002 Shruti Sharma will host the Apsara Awards ceremony. With Farooque Shaikh's intelligent humour and Shruti Sharma's bubbly effervescence, the evening promises to be memorable with the right dose of style, glamour, fanfare and entertainment.
