Anu Malik’s brother back into production:

Anu Malik is on cloud nine these days. Reason His music in ASOKA has become a rage in the market. According to Anu, he has been flooded with calls from his fans over the world, complimenting him on the mind-blowing score of the film. “The overseas crowd is fascinated with the English version of three of the songs,” he says.

Anu admits to being initially apprehensive about composing the music for such a period film. “I didn’t want the music to sound like one of yesterday. I didn’t want it to be experimental either, so I just allowed my creative intuition to take over and did what I thought was best,” he says confidently, indirectly pointing out that the music is original to the core.

The interesting part though is that Shah Rukh Khan has dubbed all the six songs of the film in Tamil. The dubbing was carried out with Anu Malik supervising the entire proceedings and suggesting changes wherever necessary. “Since I had worked so hard on the original music score, I didn’t want anyone to tamper with the dubbed Tamil version. I wanted to work on it harder, for the Tamil fans all over the world were curious to listen to the music. It took me two full days to work on the dubbed Tamil version.”

Moreover, both Shah Rukh and director Santosh Sivan are mighty pleased with the musical score Anu has composed for the film. “Shah Rukh and I have decided that we’ll work with each other for good. I am already doing his next film, which is being directed by Farah Khan. We share a great tuning and it is not surprising, considering that we also share the same birthday — November 2,” he says.

Among other things, Anu is now planning to explore the Tamil music market. He has already got offers from two leading banners from the South, he divulges.
