Aamir Khan’s iconic sports drama Lagaan has enjoyed a warm response during its limited theatrical re-release. The Oscar-nominated classic, which returned to cinemas last Friday across just 9 cities, has collected Rs. 4.47 lakh nett in its first four days.
The film opened on Friday with Rs. 43,724 nett, recording an occupancy of 19.93%. Word of mouth and nostalgia powered impressive growth over the weekend as collections jumped to Rs. 1,33,110 nett on Saturday with 51.45% occupancy, followed by the best day of the run on Sunday with Rs. 2,20,980 nett and an excellent 70.42% occupancy.
As expected, collections witnessed a drop on Monday, with the film collecting Rs. 50,107 nett at 20.09% occupancy. This took the four-day total to Rs. 4.47 lakh nett.

Interestingly, Mumbai has emerged as the biggest contributor, accounting for Rs. 1.52 lakh nett of the film’s overall re-release business. The city’s enduring affection for the Ashutosh Gowariker directorial has once again been evident, with audiences turning up in small numbers despite limited showcasing.
