There are four distinct films releasing this Friday - Akira, Yea Toh Two Much Ho Gaya, Sunshine Music Tours and Travels and Island City. Out of these, the film that would take the best amongst all is undoubtedly Akira.
The Sonakshi Sinha starrer is an action affair and is one of the rare films belonging to this genre that has a female protagonist. While there have been quite a films with a heroine as a central element in last few years, majority of them have been romcom, horror, thriller or slice-of-life affairs. However, except for a Mardaani, none has been a hardcore action affair. For Sonakshi Sinha, this is a game changer of sorts and what goes in the favor of the film is the fact that director A.R. Murugadoss is calling the shots for this Fox film.
The promo made a good impression though after that the entire reliance has been on that. The promotion has been controlled for this film and the release has been strategized in such a manner that the audience footfalls would be on the basis of word of mouth. The film appears to be a hardcore drama with dollops of action and while Friday would be mainly to set the base, the real show would be on Saturday and Sunday once feedback from audiences and critics starts trickling in.
Yea Toh Two Much Ho Gaya is a delayed release and though it stars Arbaaz Khan and Jimmy Sheirgill, the promotion has been patchy. Sunshine Music Tours and Travels has an interesting premise but yet again, the promotion has been in bits and pieces. Island City is Vinay Pathak film and is arriving with zero buzz. The first target for each of these films is to first gain an all-India release that brings them into contention.
