The latest speculation in the trade is the 'actual' reason that prompted the producers of MAINE DIL TUJHKO DIYA to postpone the release of the film. The move to postpone the release at the last minute surprised one and all, mainly because the release date was splashed in the media.
But M.D.T.D. producer Bunty Walia feels that too much is being made out of the issue. "I don't think the decision warrants so much attention. But when we noticed that JAANI DUSHMAN was also releasing on the same date, we didn't want to take that one per cent risk of getting overshadowed in the bargain. After all, our film stars new faces," Bunty states. Point noted!
KHAN VERSUS KHAN
If the caption on the billboards of MAINE DIL TUJHKO DIYA is 'Khan versus Dutt', a fitting caption for the two releases on August 23 can be 'Brother versus Brother' or 'Khan versus Khan'. After all, the coming week (August 23) will witness the clash of MAINE DIL TUJHKO DIYA (Sohail Khan) and SOCH (Arbaaz Khan), real-life brothers.
A HOT PROPOSITION
Noted distributors Shringar Films have rarely shown such confidence in a film. The latest film that has caught their fancy is Shashilal Nair's EK CHHOTISI LOVE STORY. The Shroffs of Shringar were so impressed with the film's content that they acquired its all-India rights instantly. "They were impressed with the film's subject and felt that it deserved a fitting release," says Nair.
'C.M.S.': A CRUCIAL FILM
CHOR MACHAAYE SHOR is an acid test for all concerned. Director David Dhawan has been going through a lean patch after KYO KII… MAIN JHUTH NAHIN BOLTA, HUM KISISE KUM NAHIN and YEH HAI JALWA. Bobby Deol hasn't had a solo hit for a long time now (HUMRAAZ, which did reasonably well, was a two-hero film!). Shekhar Suman makes a comeback on the big screen after a gap. Reportedly, he plays seven different characters in the film.
However, Rajiv Tolani, the producer of C.M.S, feels that David has made a superb film and the David-Bobby combo is sure to spell success. Says he, "Come on, that man (David) has made 35 films. He is a legend. Sometimes things work, sometimes they don't. But I am very confident of CHOR MACHAAYE SHOR. The audience will love it. It's a masala film."
Will the diamond robber steal the hearts, is to be seen!
ARE U AWARE…
* Not all's well between the producer and the director of a recently-released biggie. The DVDs of the film are in circulation and the director's name is missing from it. The producer has assured the director that the error would be rectified, but let's wait and watch!
* Saawan Kumar is filming the first song of DIL PARDESI HOGAYA on 7 lavish sets in one studio (Filmalaya). And he's taking as many as 14 days to picturise this particular number. He wants his latest film to be a visual treat.
