Aishwarya's picture was shot in the suite of Taj Lands End. In this she is wearing an amazing pink kurta. It is a very non Ash kind of picture. It doesn't look like a typical studio shot. In this picture she is just lounging on the bed and she cuddles a pillow, and that is when I got the right frame. It is shot in completely natural light. It is a very simple, soft but very beautiful picture.

To Esha Deol we gave a total Gypsy Queen look for this picture. She is wearing this green short skirt, a semi transparent green top with a bandana and very gypsy accessories. Everything in the picture is white except her green outfit and her skin tone coming out. She lying on a white sofa, white background, burned out lightning and this whole green appearance of hers. Esha says she felt it was like a modern interpretation of Lord Krishna because of the whole green aspect to the picture. But for me it was more of a funky gypsy, Goan kind of a look that I gave her.

Salman's picture is very close to my heart, because we shot it with his two dogs at his farm house in Panvel. I shot a series of pictures with Salman, one in which he is dressed up like a cowboy with a checked shirt and hat and his two dogs walking by his side like the hunter dogs and another one was where he was giving his dogs a bath in the rain.

With Kareena, I've done an image with an Arabic look, which is very Moroccan .We have got this Moroccan backdrop and sofa on which she is sitting dressed up in burgundy and gold outfit designed by Manish Malhotra. The picture is like she is sitting in a budaya on a sofa with a bronze look and looks like a Moroccan queen.

Do the pictures have a particular theme to it?

The calendar doesn't really have a theme per se, but then the pictures are typical Daboo Ratnani style. For this year's calendar though we have experimented a lot with lighting and also the concept of the pictures shot, as opposed to just glamour shots taken for a calendar. The male actors have been put in to different characters like Aamir Khan is given a Robinhood kind of a look, Abhishek Bachchan is in a wolf-keeper kind of a look.

As for females, they are definitely given a glamorous look but there is a lot of experimentation done with the costumes this time. Esha Deol is dressed up like a Gypsy Queen. Also, we have tried to capture different kind of moods for example; Celina Jaitley is being shot sitting in a closed Jazz bar creating the after hours ambience.

We have got many stars who will appear for the first time on the calendar this year. We have stars like Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Rani Mukherji for the first time.
