This week we see the release of three starkly different films. While MULK is a hard hitting court room drama, FANNEY KHAN is a musical drama and KARWAAN that features Irrfan Khan is a road trip film. But from the three which one will eventually take the lead at the box office is what we analyse.
Reports suggest that all three new releases viz. FANNEY KHAN, MULK and KARWAAN have opened on a sluggish note with occupancy rates during morning shows being pegged between 10-15%. However, MULK that has received positive reviews is expected to take the lead at the box office, while FANNEY KHAN and KARWAAN will have to rely on their star power to draw in the audience. On the other hand, last week’s release MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT still continues to run in cinemas but at a much diminished rate. But despite this, the film has still managed to open on a slightly better note as compared to the new releases.
On the whole, this week seems to be rather dull at the box office. With expectations that the business of the three new releases will pick up over evening and night shows, all that remains to be seen now is which film will come out as the winner.
