Box Office: Territory-wise breakup of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil V/s Shivaay. Who won and from where?

Two of the much talked about films viz., Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM) and Shivaay hit the screens last week. Now, a week after the films’ release, we decided to take a look at the overall collections of both the films. Not surprisingly, at the close of week one, the Karan Johar directed film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (that was targeted majorly at the multiplex audiences) has collected Rs. 80.19 cr, on the other hand, Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay has collected Rs. 70.41 cr. Going by these collection figures, its pretty evident that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil leads Shivaay by approximately Rs. 10 cr.

We, at Bollywood Hungama, after taking a more detailed look and doing some number crunching, present the territory wise leads at the domestic box office. Interestingly, despite Ae Dil Hai Mushkil leading in overall collections, out of the 13 territories across India, the film leads in just 6 territories. On the other hand, Shivaay leads in the remaining 7 territories. In fact, most of the Box Office gains for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil have come from territories like East Punjab, West Bengal, Delhi, UP and Mysore, where the film has taken a clear lead. But, surprisingly, the fight is very much even in the Bombay territory.

Since both films, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay continue to run in theatres, the numbers can change as the days progress. But, the data presents a broader picture of the performance of both the movies. We will keep you updated on the final tally.
