It is continuing to be a dull outing for Hrithik Roshan starrer Mohenjo Daro. The film lost major advantage on Friday when it didn't open well. After that, the only hope was to gain huge jumps on Saturday and Sunday. With that not coming either as only Rs. 12.07 crore were earned on Sunday, the film has now just about reached Rs. 30.54 crore mark. Now these are poor numbers indeed for the film which was expected to be the next big blockbuster when it was announced earlier for the Independence Day weekend release. Ironically though, it isn't really painting a pretty picture on that very big holiday (today) for which it was released!
The Ashutosh Gowariker film is towards the bottom of the Top-10 weekends of 2016 when it should actually have been at the least in Top-3. Here are first three days collections of films released this year:
Sultan - Rs. 105.53 crore
Housefull 3 - Rs. 53.31 crore
Fan - Rs. 52.35 crore
Rustom - Rs. 50.42 crore
Airlift - Rs. 44.3 crore
Baaghi - Rs. 38.58 crore
Dishoom - Rs. 37.32 crore
Udta Punjab - Rs. 33.8 crore
Mohenjo Daro - Rs. 30.54 crore
Kapoor & Sons - Rs. 26.35 crore
The fact that the Hrithik Roshan starrer is below even a Tiger Shroff and John Abraham-Varun Dhawan film pretty much conveys how badly it has been hit at the Box Office. In fact in terms of lifetime collections, it would only go further down when compared to many other smaller films.
Now, it is all about collecting the most that comes in today as it would hopefully be the best of its run so far. After that its only solace would lie in the fact that it stays stable (even if on the lower side) during the weekdays. That would at the least give exhibitors some sort of motivation to give it a reasonable amount of shows in the second week.
