Dishoom has done well over the weekend. The film took a fine start [Rs. 11.05 crore], showed some growth on Saturday [Rs. 12.02 crore] and then jumped quite well on Sunday [Rs. 14.25 crore]. Considering the fact that entire weekend was troubled by rains in some or the other part of the country (and incidentally at some of the states like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka) which have best returns for Hindi films, the Rohit Dhawan directed film still did well enough to bring on Rs. 37.32 crore over the weekend. If not for the weather conditions, the film could have comfortably crossed the Rs. 40 crore mark.
Still, the collections for Dishoom are good and in line with the kind of expectations that one carried from it around its release. Anything over 35 crore was a good number on the cards and the fact that the film has still managed a couple of crore more is good news indeed for it. With this, the collaboration between Sajid Nadiadwala and Eros has worked all over again after Housefull 3, a much bigger film, which had gathered Rs. 53.31 crore on its opening weekend earlier this year. This isn't all as Sajid Nadiadwala too has now scored a hat-trick of successful films after Baaghi and Housefull 3.
Rohit Dhawan has reasons to smile as in just the opening weekend, Dishoom has collected as much as his debut release Desi Boyz [2011] had collected in its entire Week One [Rs. 37.5 crore]. For the film's actors John Abraham, Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez, it has been a good outing for now. All eyes are on how the film stays during the weekdays. While Rs. 55 crore would be definitely surpassed before the close of week, a lot more could well be gathered since there isn't much of a competition in the following week.
