Make way for another record in the making. In seven days flat, Sultan will enter 200 Crore Club. Yes, that’s indeed happening. After scoring ‘Fastest 100 Crore’ and ‘Fastest 150 Crore’, Sultan is now set for its third major record. In cricket parlance, the film is akin to an unbeaten batsman ever since it came on crease and after hitting fours and sizes, it is now running comfortably between the wickets!
On Monday, the film brought in further Rs. 15.54 crore. While this is over 50% drop from its opening day (Rs. 36.54 crore), one has to consider that it was anyways on a very high level and that too on pre-Eid. Also, the film is still much better than even the Day One of many biggies that have released this year.
The film has now collected Rs. 195.90 crore in six days and by this afternoon, it would have gone past the 200 crore mark. With this, the Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer would be yet another biggie of theirs to enter the 200 Crore Club. While Salman Khan already has three to his name [Bajrangi Bhaijaan (which is in 300 Crore Club), Kick and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo), Anushka Sharma too has a triple century to her credit (PK). Now, this film would be another feather in their cap.
As for Yash Raj Films and Ali Abbas Zafar, they are now dealing with very high numbers and it would be interesting to see where the film lands up before it enters its second weekend. Even if it maintains just a healthy double digit score on each of the remaining three days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), at least Rs. 35 crore are pretty much on the cards and that would take it past the Rs. 230 crore mark. Blockbuster!
