Last week it was HALF GIRLFRIEND and HINDI MEDIUM that finally managed to surmount the mammoth BAAHUBALI 2 that had been dominating the box office for week, by posting good box office collections. This week we see the release of a rather unconventional film in the form of SACHIN: A BILLION DREAMS. But will the film which is based on the life of the proverbial cricketing god Sachin Tendulkar score at the box office is the question of the hour.
Reports coming in suggest that SACHIN: A BILLION DREAMS that has released across 2400 screens in Indian and 400 screens in the overseas market has opened on a good note with occupancy rates during morning shows being pegged at a steady 40%. Though the opening is by no means small, the film which is a docu-drama based on one of cricketing world’s most iconic players is expected to pick up over the weekend. Simultaneously, the Hollywood release PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: SALAZAR’S REVENGE has also opened on a decent note with an occupancy rate of approximately 30%.
On the whole, while both SACHIN: A BILLION DREAMS and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: SALAZAR’S REVENGE are expected to grow over the evening and night shows, the previous releases HALF GIRLFRIEND and HINDI MEDIUM too are expected to sustain business but at a much diminished rate.
