The year 2022 seems to have started on a good note, with films raking in big bucks at the box office. After the Covid-19 induced dry run at the box office, one release after the other has been setting the cash registers jingling. Starting with Gangubai Kathiawadi, to The Kashmir Files to RRR new releases have been raking in the moolah. Now the latest release to hit screens is the Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2. But will the film which comes with immense anticipation, expectations and hype gain acceptance among the audience is the question of the hour.
Reports suggest that KGF – Chapter 2 has taken off on a thunderous note with occupancy over morning shows pegged at a steady 80% across the country. In fact, KGF – Chapter 2 has rewritten records collecting Rs. 31 crores nett with advance ticket sales for the opening day. If that was not enough, the Yash starrer recorded sales of nearly 50% of total occupancy in advance bookings alone, taking its collections well past a full day earnings of previous releases since the 2019 film War. Going forward, KGF 2 has been enjoying a highly positive trend, and is expected to see houseful shows across the board on its opening day.
In fact, in certain locations KGF 2 features shows starting as early as 6 AM. Interestingly, a few locations have featured a houseful notice for these shows, which even today is a rare phenomenon. Given this positivity surrounding the film, the hype, the good reviews, the massive spate of advance bookings and of course the long weekend with Ambedkar Jayanti, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday the business of the film will certain see substantial growth. It will come as no surprise if KGF – Chapter 2 establishes new benchmark records with its opening day collections, which are expected to be over Rs. 45 cr.
