The much talked about and keenly anticipated Akshay Kumar action entertainer SOORYAVANSHI finally hit screens. Directed by Rohit Shetty the film has been making headlines since its announcement. If that wasn’t all, SOORYAVANSHI is the first big ticket Bollywood blockbuster to hit the big screens after the lockdown. But will the hype surrounding the film be enough to entice audience to venture to theatres is the question.
As per reports, SOORYAVANSHI has opened to a good start with approximately 35% occupancy. Currently this opening is being attributed to the fact that issues between Reliance and exhibitors led to no advance bookings across major national multiplex chains. However, on the other hand single screens have seen an excellent advance booking rate in certain locations. Currently, the 35% occupancy is based on spot booking for morning shows, with evening and night shows will see a spike in bookings.
On the whole, with positive word of mouth, and favourable reviews SOORYAVANSHI looks set to enjoy a stellar opening weekend in theatres. Adding to this, the festive occasion of Diwali and the extended weekend will definitely work wonders for the film’s overall business. In fact, trade predictions state that SOORYAVANSHI that has released across 4,000 screens with between 16,000 to 18,000 shows could see between Rs. 20 cr. to Rs. 25 cr. coming in on Day 1.
