On reading the resume of Kaajal Vashisht one would go dizzy, and don't be surprised if she greets you in seven different languages (Hindi, English, Telegu, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Marwari). She's a trained dancer and knows how to kick your teeth out. Yea! Scroll down under 'Experiences' and you read - 'Trained in Kick Boxing'. All this and I was running fifteen minutes late. I shut my eyes and the flashes appear in Guy Ritchie style - Kick, Teeth, Blood, Swollen, Ice pack. I open my eyes and Kaajal is in front of me spinning in delight waiting to talk about her debut movie Rowdy Rathore. Wow! Saved! But it's only mid way in the interview I get to know that Vashisht was selected for a 'cop's role' because of her action prowess. But to her surprise she landed herself as Sonakshi Sinha's best friend. Wonder if Rathore had problems with the sexy 'cop'? Introducing the 'alive n kicking' Kaajal Vashisht.
"I don't have to be in the United Nations just because I know seven languages" I don't have to be in the United Nations just because I know seven languages (laughs). I learnt Tamil because I was born and brought up in Chennai. I learnt Telugu at one relatives place, I learnt Marathi and Gujarati after coming to Mumbai, Hindi and English I learnt in school and I learnt Rajasthani (Marawari) because that's my home town.
"In every performance I see a distinction" I decided once and for all that I wanted to pursue acting - be it on stage, on television or in movies. I have been to three auditions in one day. That's how passionate I am when it comes to acting. Fortunately I was one of the many to audition for Rowdy Rathore and I got my first debut movie. I just want to act. Big or small doesn't matter. But more importantly, it has to be your growth. I want to give more variations to the roles I choose. In every performance I see a distinction.
"I went to audition for a cop's role and got to play Sonakshi's friend Neha. Rowdy irony" There were ten girls shortlisted for the audition of the role that I am portraying in Rowdy, that of Sonakshi's friend. Four of them left because they wanted to do something big or better. Though I had applied for a female cop's role in Rowdy Rathore for which I got selected too but for some reason I was too short in front of Akshay and they told me to audition for another role. The next thing I knew, I was playing Sonakshi's friend Neha. Honestly, I would've loved to play the cop's role because I love action.
"Privacy is rare in an actor's life and I could see the way Sonakshi handled it with ease" Sonakshi and I had a very basic conversation what two normal girls would have. But it's tough to be an actress. It's tough for Sonakshi. I say that because we were on the sets while she was having her lunch - a banana to be precise. A couple of photographers started clicking her pictures while she was eating and Sonakshi spotted that. She ordered her hair dresser to approach the photographer and make him delete those pictures. Privacy is rare in an actor's life and I could see the way Sonakshi handled it with ease.
"With Akshay, you should expect all the rowdiness" I am a trained dancer and dancing with Akshay is fabulous. He will come up with random crazy ideas and he'll just surprise you. With Akshay, you should expect all the rowdiness (laughs). I respect Akshay for being the most patient actor. This was my debut movie and while filming the dance sequence, my spectacles came off as I was supposed to be wearing them throughout the movie. In spite of a few re-takes, and that too because of me, he still was patient and told me that such things keep happening on the sets and I didn't need to worry about anything. From that point on my nervousness disappeared.
"Prabhu Dheva is rowdy when he is on camera but not off it" Prabhu sir started it all with Wanted. He was a dancer, and then turned into choreographer, then actor and now a director. He treats everyone equally, big or small. He is a great guy. He is so chilled out but he is a little shy. Prabhu Dheva is rowdy when he is on camera but not off it.
