The Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2 was released last week on Thursday to a thunderous response from the audience. The film, which was touted to be the biggest release of the year, witnessed immense advance bookings resulting in an occupancy rate of nearly 80% on its first day. Following this, the business of KGF 2 continued to see further growth over its four-day extended weekend.
In this box office report, we look at the opening weekend collections of KGF – Chapter 2 while comparing the same to previous Hindi dubbed releases. Collecting a staggering Rs. 193.99 cr, KGF 2 has surpassed the SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion that had collected Rs. 128 cr to become the all-time highest Hindi dubbed grosser. Besides this, the opening weekend business of KGF – Chapter 2 has also surpassed the collections of other releases like 2.0 which collected Rs. 97.25 cr, Saaho which collected Rs. 79.08 cr, RRR which collected Rs. 75.57 cr, Bahubali - The Beginning which collected Rs. 22.35 cr, Kabali which collected Rs. 19.15 cr, Radhe Shyam which collected Rs. 13.94 cr, Pushpa: The Rise - Part 1 which collected Rs. 12.68 cr, and K.G.F - Chapter 1 which had collected Rs. 9.20 cr.
Currently KGF – Chapter 2 continues to enjoy the audiences’ favour and remains their first choice in theatres. Going forward the business of KGF 2 is expected to see further growth in collections making it past the Rs. 200 cr mark by the end of its fifth day running. Trade predictions state that given the current trend the film is enjoying, it will come as no surprise if KGF 2 nears the Rs. 300 cr mark by the end of its first week in theatres.
