The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film Padmaavat finally released on January 25 after much delay. Starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor the film which has been the subject matter of multiple controversies and protests since December opened to mixed reactions in the Indian market. However, overseas the film has been doing rather well.
In this special report we take a look at the third day collections of Padmaavat at the North American box office, which incidentally is the highest single day collection of the film while comparing the same to the highest collections of previous releases on a single day. Surprisingly, Padmaavat tops the charts as the Highest Single Day grosser within the North American circuit with a total collection of USD 18,41,628 [Rs. 11.70 cr] on its third day.
In fact, the single day collection of the film has surpasses the highest single day collections of previous big ticket releases like PK that had collected USD 14,18,817 [Rs. 9.01 cr], Dangal that collected USD 13,46,274 [Rs. 8.55 cr], Dhoom 3 that collected USD 13,04,679 [Rs. 8.28 cr], and Bajrangi Bhaijaan that collected USD 10,50,000 [Rs 6.67 cr].
With Padmaavat still continuing to run unopposed at the box office, all that remains to be seen is whether the film emerges as the highest grosser in this market.
