The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film Padmaavat that has been making headlines for the past few months finally released today. However before the official release the film featured paid previews in cinemas on January 24 evening.
While Padmaavat that has drawn the ire of multiple groups has been the bone of contention for a while now, the audience seems to have liked the film. In fact, the Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer managed to draw in Rs. 5 crore from its paid previews.
Given the hurdles Padmaavat has faced, a collections of Rs. 5 cr in one evening from the limited number of shows, indicates a positive trend for the film. All that remains to be seen now is whether this positive trend benefits the film’s overall box office performance.
