Samrat Prithviraj had good growth on Sunday as Rs. 16.10 crores came in. On Saturday, the film had collected Rs. 12.60 crores so this jump is a healthy sign. Otherwise, it had been so many times this year that films opening is very low and then hardly show any kind of growth on Saturday and Sunday. Here, the film at least saw a double-digit number on Friday, had some turnaround on Saturday and then picked up steam on Sunday.
Of course, what the film has accumulated on Sunday should ideally have been the Friday number. That would have ensured a weekend of at least Rs. 50 crores. It would also been ideal for a film of this size and stature. However since that didn’t happen, the Akshay Kumar starrer will now need to be very stable on Monday. Need of the hour for the film would be to at least stay close to the Rs. 8 crores mark. If that turns out to be the case, the film will have a first week of around Rs. 65 crores, which would set the stage for a Rs. 100 Crore Club entry.
Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan led Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has gone past the Rs. 150 crores mark rather comfortably. It could well have achieved this feat on Saturday itself but then fell short by a few lakhs! That was taken care of on Sunday morning though when Rs. 150 crores was surpassed in a jiffy and then a lot more came in, what with Rs. 4.55 crores been added to its total. The horror comedy by Anees Bazmee now stands at Rs. 154.82 crores and its just a matter of time before Rs. 175 crores is crossed. One never knows actually that if the weekdays turn out to be above expectations, as has been the case with the movie all this while, then it could well have a shot at the Rs. 180 crores mark.
