In 9 days, Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 has crossed the lifetime collections of Kick. The 2014 release had brought in 232 crores back in time and was a bonafide blockbuster. Tiger 3 too is an action film, and it has edged past Kick by a few crores on Monday, what with Rs. 7.35 crores more been added to its total. As a result, the overall collections now stand at Rs. 238.10 crores.
Of course, Tiger 3 is a far more expensive film and there were a lot more expectations from it to perform at the box office. In fact, even Kick had seen a mixed response from the critics, but audiences had gladly accepted the film, as a result of which it continued to do good business at the box office. In case of Tiger 3, there are number of factors - both internal and external - that have turned out to be a deterrent, as a result of which it’s not covering the kind of distance that was expected out of it.
Nonetheless, the film will keep collecting for next few days and while Rs. 250 crores mark will be crossed by close of week, one waits to see further Rs. 25 crores been added at the least in its lifetime run. It will stay below next Salman Khan biggie in the list, Sultan (Rs. 301.5 crores). That said, Tiger 3 yet again goes on to show the kind of might that Salman Khan carries because when a film of his ultimately gets into that Rs. 275 crores zone, it’s said to be ‘not meeting expectations’!
