Ranveer Singh’s latest release Simmba that hit a total of 4020 screens last Friday has been unstoppable at the box office. After opening on a good note, the business of the Rohit Shetty directorial saw immense growth thanks to positive reviews and strong audience feedback.
In this box office analysis we take a look at the opening week collections of Simmba while comparing the same to previous releases of 2018. Collecting Rs. 150.81 cr Simmba has managed to out beat the Salman Khan starrer Race 3 that had collected Rs. 140.74 cr to become the third highest opening week grosser of 2018. If that wasn’t all, Simmba has managed to record better first week collections than other releases like Thugs Of Hindostan that collected Rs. 140.40 cr, 2.0 that collected Rs. 139.75 cr, Baaghi 2 that collected Rs. 112.85 cr, Gold that collected Rs. 87.30 cr, Zero that collected Rs. 82.60 cr, and Satyameva Jayate that collected Rs. 68.25 cr. However, despite the positive feedback and appreciation Simmba has received across the board, the opening week collections of the film do not manage to surpass the business of other releases like Sanju that collected Rs. 202.51 cr and Padmaavat that collected Rs. 166.50 cr.
As of now, with previous releases all but gone from cinemas and no new releases competing with Simmba, the film is expected to dominate the box office on its second weekend as well.
