The Rajinikanth led Jailer 2 directed by Nelson Dilipkumar is doing well at the box office in Hindi. After opening at Rs. 3.25 crore on Thursday, the film showed a strong hold on Friday with collections of Rs. 3 crore. And now, as per early trends, the comic action thriller is showing a strong surge in collections on Saturday, as the early estimates are in the range of Rs. 4 crore to Rs. 4.50 crore.

With this, the 3-day total of Jailer 2 in Hindi stands at approx. Rs. 10 crore, and the film will be looking at another big surge in business on Sunday, to pack a punch with weekend business of Rs. 14-15 crore plus. The Rajinikanth starrer is doing these numbers without a national chain release, and that makes the collections even better as the bulk of the biz is coming in from non-national multiplexes and single-screen theatres.
With a national chain release, the 3-day total could have been around the Rs. 20 crore mark, whereas the weekend could have been well above the Rs. 30 crore mark. It's a big misfire from Sun Pictures by skipping national chain releases in the greed of getting some extra revenues from digital platforms, as Jailer 2 had the chance to emerge as a big blockbuster at the pan-India level.
The film has a cameo from a top star like Hrithik Roshan, which has been appreciated by the cine-goers, and this could have fueled stronger momentum in national chains as well.
