This was pretty much expected. Pink has started gaining numbers in a big way. With the kind of pre-release buzz that the Shoojit Sircar produced film was garnering, it had already started seeking that Pink was going to be special. It then took an opening of Rs. 4.32 crore and for its genre, stage, setting and treatment, this was a good number by all means. However, once critical acclaim and audience word of mouth started settling in for this Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury directed film it was quite obvious that there would be bigger numbers on the cards during rest of the weekend.
This is what happened as an addition of Rs. 7.65 crore came in on Saturday. The film has now collected Rs. 11.97 crore already and audiences are still warming up to it. The way film is currently going, a weekend of Rs. 20 crore plus is pretty much on the cards. That would give this Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang film a similar trajectory that Sonam Kapoor's Neerja had enjoyed earlier this year. That film too had opened at Rs. 4.7 crore and then enjoyed a weekend of Rs. 22.01 crore.
Meanwhile, Raaz Reboot is finding audiences primarily in the single screens. After opening to Rs. 6.3 crore, the film saw Rs. 5.49 crore more on Saturday. The Vikram Bhatt directed film is currently hanging on at the Box Office and one just hopes that Rs. 6 crore mark is further crossed on Sunday too so that the film can see audience stepping in during the weekdays as well. The film's total stands at Rs. 11.79 crore and it may eventually have a weekend on the same lines as Emraan Hashmi's Azhar [Rs. 20.8 crore].
