Ranveer Singh’s latest release is the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed venture Padmaavat. Despite the protests and the hurdles in the release of the film Padmaavat that also features Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor has been doing well at the domestic box office.
In this box office analysis, we take a look at the opening weekend collections of Padmaavat while comparing the same to Ranveer Singh’s previous releases. Collecting Rs. 114 cr Padmaavat has now become Ranveer’s highest opening weekend grosser. In fact the first weekend business of Padmaavat has manage to surpass the collections of the actor’s previous releases like Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela that collected Rs. 52.75 cr, Bajirao Mastani that collected Rs. 46.77 cr, Gunday that collected Rs. 43.93 cr, Dil Dhadkne Do that collected Rs. 37.50 cr, Befikre that collected Rs. 34.43 cr, Kill Dil that collected Rs. 20.18 cr, Lootera that collected Rs. 19 cr, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl that collected Rs. 16.54 cr, and Band Baaja Baaraat that collected Rs. 5.20 cr.
In fact, Padmaavat has now become Ranveer's career best opening day, his biggest single day collection ever and his fastest film to achieve Rs. 100 crore. Talking about the same Ranveer Singh adds, "As an artist I feel fulfilled. Honestly, it's a relief to be validated in this way. It's overwhelming and humbling to witness the kind of reaction that the film and my performance has received".
As for now while Padmaavat continues to run in theatres to a thunderous response from the audience, all that remains to be seen is whether the film emerges as one of Ranveer Singh’s highest grossers till date.
