Finally, Bollywood can have a sigh of relief. More than a month after Toilet - Ek Prem Katha, finally a film has opened well at the Box Office. Judwaa 2 was always expected to take a good opening and this is what has happened as the film has taken a fabulous start of Rs. 16.10 crore. In the times when even a double digit score is coming at a premium, for Judwaa 2 to take such a good start has spelt good news for the industry.
There are quite a few factors that went in the favour of the film. Recall value associated with Judwaa, David Dhawan as the director, Varun Dhawan continuing with a 100% success record, Sajid Nadiadwala backing yet another out and out commercial film, Fox ensuring that the promotion, marketing and release is apt - all of this has come together to ensure that Judwaa 2 starts well in theatres right from the first day. Moreover, what has allowed the film to stay steady right through the first day has been the entertainment quotient that it has to offer. It is 90s style entertainment which one gets to see in the film and that's what audiences have been enjoying as well.
The film is definitely not the kind that would have made critics happy but then that's hardly a worry point for this entertainer since the film doesn't rely upon critical acclaim to bring in audience. What it needs is word of mouth to spread well amidst the massy audiences and that is what helped the film to gain good numbers across A, B as well as C centres. While it is now a given that Judwaa 2 will score a weekend of Rs. 50 crore, one waits to see where does it eventually land up.
