Dishoom has gone past its first major milestone. The film has crossed Rs. 50 crore at the Box Office in 6 days. With Rs. 4 crore* coming on Wednesday, the film's collections now stand at Rs. 50.5 crore*. This is now a record for Varun Dhawan in particular since each of his films that has released since his debut outing Student of the Year has now gone past half the century mark. No other actor of his generation has managed this feat and Varun finds himself in an enviable position here.
In fact today, the film will also cross his Badlapur [Rs.50.07 crore] and the next two targets for Varun would be Main Tera Hero [Rs. 50.60 crore] and Student of the Year [Rs. 70 crore]. Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya [Rs. 76.81 crore] is out of reach though while Dilwale [Rs. 148.72 crore] and ABCD - Any Body Can Dance 2 [105.74 crore] would stay on to be his top grossers. John Abraham has featured in quite a few biggies, last being Welcome Back [Rs. 96.69 crore]. However, Dishoom will now prove to be his biggest since Madras Cafe [Rs. 42.67 crore] and Shootout At Wadala [Rs. 60.18 crore]. Jacqueline Fernandez now has two back to back successes after Housefull 3.
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala has kept his scoring intact after Housefull 3 [Rs. 109.11 crore] and Baaghi [Rs. 76.34 crore], though he could well have seen Dishoom score even better, if not for the rain playing spoilsport right through the weekend. Eros can well be expected to be happy with the fact that they have found Dishoom to be on the right footing and now all eyes are on their next biggie, Baar Baar Dekho, which is carrying good vibes.
