Force 2 has seen a fair weekend at the Box Office. The start was slow on Friday and then the jumps over Saturday and Sunday weren't huge either. The film would have been in a much more comfortable position had it crossed the Rs. 25 crore mark. However, with Rs. 20.05 crore as its sum total so far, the dependency over the weekdays becomes a lot more.
When compared to other action films starring John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha, this is how the Abhinay Deo directed affair currently stands:
Force 2 – Rs. 20.05 crore
Akira – Rs. 16.65 crore
Force – Rs. 15 crore
Rocky Handsome – Rs. 16.12 crore (including Rs. 1.77 crore from Thursday Paid Previews)
In the coming week arrives Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt starrer Dear Zindagi and that is good news for Force 2 since single screens would continue to be available for it. This is the market that has been impacted most by demonetization and managing some sort of shortfall in collections would be possible with an additional run of one week.
Currently, demonetization is being looked at as a primary reason for films not even taking an opening. Opening of upcoming releases like Dear Zindagi, Kahaani 2, Wajah Tum Ho and Befikre would define how big the problem it actually is.
