Overseas: Rs. 30 crores in 31 days

By Bollywood Hungama

PROVOKED has overpowered SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM in U.K. SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM was expected to fetch a good start thanks to Suneel Darshan's impressive track record, but the film has underperformed in this territory. On the other hand, PROVOKED has two factors going in its favor -- the film is based on a true-life story set in U.K. and also Aishwarya Rai's presence. The opening weekend collections of the film are fairly impressive.

Amongst holdover titles, NAMASTEY LONDON is rock-steady in U.K., while THE NAMESAKE is below average here, if one compares its business in the U.S.

Meanwhile, THE NAMESAKE continues to fare extra-ordinarily well in U.S.A. The film has almost touched Rs. 30 crores in 31 days and is still counting. The film opened in Australia last Friday and despite strong oppositions during the Easter weekend [mainly 300], THE NAMESAKE has made a mark here.
