The much talked about and keenly anticipated release KGF – Chapter 2 hit screens yesterday. After much talk and hype anticipation and expectations of the Yash starrer were at an all-time high. Surpassing expectations KGF 2 witnessed widespread advance bookings across the country that netted the film a staggering Rs. 31 cr from sales of tickets for Day 1. Given this unheard-of advance booking rate and of course, the positive reviews and strong audience feedback the business of the film was expected to take off on a flying note.
In this box office report, we look at the opening day collections of KGF – Chapter 2 while comparing the same to previous releases of 2022. Collecting Rs. 53.95 cr, KGF 2 has managed to become the highest opening day grosser of 2022. In fact, the business of the film has surpassed the collections of previous releases like RRR which collected Rs. 20.07 cr, Bachchhan Paandey that collected Rs. 13.25 cr, Gangubai Kathiawadi that collected Rs. 10.50 cr, Radhe Shyam collected Rs. 4.44 cr, and The Kashmir Files that had collected Rs. 3.55 cr. Not surprisingly, KGF – Chapter 2 has emerged as a leader at the box office overshadowing the previous releases by a wide margin.
Going forward, KGF 2 which has seen the widest release across 10000 screens worldwide is expected to dominate the box office. In fact, with the Easter weekend holiday, predictions state that the collections of KGF – Chapter 2 will see a massive increase in collections. It will certainly come as no surprise if the business of the film crosses not just the Rs. 100 cr mark but also the Rs. 150 cr mark by the end of its opening weekend in theatres.
