What a tremendous feat it has turned out to be. Of course records are meant to be broken but when this happens from unexpected quarters, it's an altogether different experience. Back in 2019 when War had released on Gandhi Jayanti holiday, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff created history with the Siddharth Anand and Yash Raj Films' offering setting the record for the biggest first day ever, what with Rs. 51.60 crores coming in for the Hindi version (add further Rs. 1.75 crores in the Tamil and Telugu version, and the total stood at Rs. 53.35 crores).
Now KGF - Chapter 2 [Hiindi] has done the unthinkable by surpassing the Hindi version in style, with Rs. 53.95 crores coming in. Of course if one adds the original Kannada version and the other south languages then the overall total is much bigger and we would in fact be comparing with the first day collections of all time blockbuster Baahubali 2: The Conclusion which was a riot across Hindi, Telugu and other versions. However, from Hindi to Hindi comparison perspective, KGF - Chapter 2 has gone ahead and rewritten history.
Yet again, it's an out and out commercial massy masala entertainer that has done the trick at the box office. If War was suave and stylish, KGF - Chapter 2 is raw and audacious, and that's what has gone in its favour. The film is not going to stop here and a lot more will come in its extended four day weekend. In fact if one looks at the first three day number, there are more records that are under threat. To go past Sanju weekend of Rs. 120.06 crores is a possibility and it would be interesting to see if Baahubali 2: The Conclusion [Rs. 128 crores] would be surpassed.
