In five days flat, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has managed to enter the profit zone. The film collected Rs. 13.03 crores on Tuesday and now stands at Rs. 66.38 crores. This has now already taken it past the breakeven mark as the economics of the film had been worked out quite well.
This is how the official break-up looks like this for the Dharma and Fox film:
Cost of production (inclusive of marketing and distribution) - Rs. 100 crores
Revenue recovered (from music, satellite and digital) - Rs. 75 crores
Recovery to be made from theatrical revenue - Rs. 25 crores
Nett revenue needed from theatrical - Rs. 50 crores
Considering the fact that the film has already crossed the Rs. 66 crore mark quite comfortably already, those at Dharma and Fox can now pop the champagne. Ditto for Ranbir Kapoor who was indeed pining for a hit to his name. His last major box office success was Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and now this film has turned out to be a good follow up to that. Of course, that film was a huge blockbuster but still for someone who was looking at a good earner coming his way in 2016, it is a happy ending indeed for Ranbir.
As for Anushka Sharma, she is enjoying a dream run with Sultan and now Ae Dil Hai Mushkil turning out to be two more hits in her kitty.
A steady run from this point on should ensure a neat Rs. 100 crore entry for the film.
