Sooryavanshi's good hold on the second Friday has indicated one thing loud and clear - audiences are now ready to get back to theatres. Had it just been the Diwali rush or the call of only hardcore movie buffs then the fall at the box office could well have begun by Tuesday. However, none of that happened right till the end of the first week when Rs. 8.30 crores came on Thursday. Still, there was a bit of an apprehension around whether the second week would begin well too for Sooryavanshi. Well, that has happened indeed with Rs. 6,83 crore more coming in.
That shows that neutral audiences are most definitely interested in watching films in theatres since for a non-south film, this is still the best number since 6th March 2020 when Baaghi 3 had released and collected Rs. 17.50 crores on its opening day. Between then and now, 20 months have gone by and the numbers that Sooryavanshi has accumulated on its second Friday are still the best ever.
The onus for any new release is now to beat at least this number, and then aim for higher targets. Bunty aur Babli 2 is the next theatrical release and that arrives on 19th November. It would be interesting to see if the Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh manage to do that on its release. If that indeed turns out to be the case then it would be 'game on' indeed for Bollywood.
