The Rohit Shetty directed film Sooryavanshi released a couple of weeks back to a thunderous response from the audience and critics alike. After taking off to a good start the business of the Akshay Kumar starrer witnessed immense growth as the days progressed. In fact, the business of Sooryavanshi continued to hold strong despite the release of the Saif Ali Khan – Rani Mukerji starrer Bunty Aur Babli 2. Now in its third week the film has managed to maintain its streak at the box office.
In this box office special report, we take a look at the third week collections of Sooryavanshi while comparing the same to previous films that have made it this far. Collecting Rs. 18.68 cr. Sooryavanshi has managed to become the 19th all-time highest week 3 grosser. Interestingly, the third week business of Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi has managed to out beat the Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 that collected Rs. 17.94 cr., the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express that collected Rs. 1.87 cr., and even the Salman Khan starrer Sultan that collected Rs. 15.84 cr.
Besides these films, the third week collections of Sooryavanshi have also surpassed other previous releases like Raazi that collected Rs. 18.21 cr., Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety that collected Rs. 17.93 cr., Stree that collected Rs. 17.14 cr., and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag that collected Rs. 16.11 cr.
Now, with two major releases viz. Satyameva Jayate 2 and Antim – The Final Truth set to hit screens the business of Sooryavanshi is expected to see a considerable drop.
