The Akshay Kumar fronted historical Samrat Prithviraj, has finally seen some momentum in its favour as the film has shown a 25 to 30 percent jump on Sunday. According to estimates, the Yash Raj Films Production has collected in the range of Rs. 15.50 to 16.50 crores on Sunday.
This takes the opening weekend collection of Samrat Prithviraj to Rs. 40 crores. While the opening two days of the historical were rather low, the jump in collections on Sunday has resulted in the film putting up what can be called a just about average weekend total.
The weekend in the same range as Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi and about 20 percent lower than Ranveer Singh's 83. Akshay Kumar's period drama now needs to show an excellent hold in collections on Monday to have some gas in the pipe to sail safely at the box office in the coming 2 weeks. The weekend isn't as good as expected and hence, the weekday hold is very crucial for survival and putting up a respectable total. It's going to be a little tough route ahead, but box office and unpredictability go hand in hand.
The movie needs to earn around Rs. 8 crores on Monday to have a shot at Rs. 100 crores and we can know about this by tomorrow evening. The word of mouth seems to be mixed, with mass belts doing reasonable business whereas the metros not firing at all. While even Rs. 100 crores would be non performance, it will still add some sort of weight in the Khiladi's filmography.
