Shah Rukh Khan made a terrific comeback at the start of this year with Pathaan. Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films, the movie also starred Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana. It went onto become the highest grossing Bollywood movie by amassing a huge number of Rs. 543.05 crores in India alone.
SRK’s next film Jawan sees the light of day today and this film is expected to go past Pathaan. We will need to wait to see whether that happens. But the film has, for now, gone past Pathaan as far as the advance booking sales are concerned.
Till 11:50 pm last night (September 6), Jawan managed to sell as many as 557,000 tickets through advance booking for its first day at the national multiplex chains. Pathaan, on the other hand, had sold 556,000 tickets through advance booking.
This also takes Jawan to the second position in the list of all-time top advance booking sales for Hindi movies. The first position is acquired by the Hindi version of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which sold 650,000 tickets for its first day through advance booking.
Directed by Atlee Kumar and produced by SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment, Jawan also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Ridhi Dogra, Sanya Malhotra, among others. The film released worldwide today on September 7.
