Filmmaker Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2 is one of the most awaited films of the year. The excitement for the sequel to the historic blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001) is getting higher with only a week left for the release of the film starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma. This can also be seen from the fact that the advance booking sales for the period movie have been impressive.
According to the latest reports, PVR has so far sold 12,100 tickets of Gadar 2 while Inox and Cinepolis have been able to sell 8,600 and 9,350 tickets so far. Hence, the total number of tickets sold so far comes to 30,050.
One should note that these are the number of tickets sold for the opening day only in the three aforementioned multiplex chains. The rest of the theatres, especially single screens, aren’t counted here.
In a recent exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Taran Adarsh cleared the air about the length of Sunny Deol’s role in the film. He said, “There are a lot of rumours doing the rounds that Sunny Dol’s role isn’t that important in the film and that Anil Sharma has focussed more on his son Utkarsh. I asked Anil Sharma about this, and I even asked Zee about this. They have said that these rumours are all false, that Sunny is there in the film from start to finish, and Gadar is Sunny Deol.”
Produced by Zee Studios, Gadar 2 is slated to release on August 11.
