The Aamir Khan starrer Thugs of Hindostan that released a while back in India turned out to be one of the biggest underperformers of the year. Now the Yash Raj Films production venture has finally opened on the big screen in China. But will the film that features the Chinese audiences favourite Bollywood star Aamir Khan draw in the moolah or will the audience reject the film is the question.
As of now, reports claim that Thugs of Hindostan has opened on a slow note at the China box office. In fact, the opening day collections of the film are currently pegged at USD 1.48 million [Rs. 10.34 cr]. Given Aamir’s immense popularity in this market is it surprising to see a film that has been re-edited to cater to this particular segment of audience open on a slow note. Though Yash Raj Films that has already locked the Chinese distribution of Thugs of Hindostan for a minimum guarantee, it remains to be seen whether the film managed to woo the audience at the China box office.
As of now, with the weekend looming and the New Year celebrations set to kick in, the business of Thugs of Hindostan might see a jump at the China box office.
