Back in 2018, Ranbir Kapoor set a record for the best opening weekend ever for a Bollywood film. The Rajkumar Hirani-directed film Sanju, had collected Rs. 120.06 crores in its first 3 days, hence quashing the previous record that was set by Salman Khan starrer Tiger Zinda Hai [Rs. 114.93 crores] that was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Post that biggies like Thugs of Hindostan [Rs. 101.75 crores], War [Rs. 100.15 crores], Bharat [Rs. 95.50 crores] and Dabangg 3 [Rs. 81.15 crores] released but none could even come close to the first three-day numbers of Sanju.
Well, Ranbir Kapoor has broken the long-standing record, what with his Brahmastra earning Rs. 120.75 crores in its first 3 days. The film took an excellent start and the best part is that went on to register wonderful numbers on Saturday as well as Sunday. What is even more remarkable is the fact that all the aforementioned films were holiday releases and still could not break the record of Sanju. On the other hand, Brahmastra is a non-holiday release and still, it has come right at the top, which further reemphasizes the love that it's getting.
This further consolidates the fact that Ranbir Kapoor is a bonafide star and though Shamshera didn't work a few weeks back, his pull over the box office has been largely intact and it was just the right film coming at the right time and been rightly promoted. One can't say that it was the timing that worked in the favour of Brahmastra since all sorts of negativity were surrounding it till 10 days before its release. However, it is the right film for sure and then it was rightly promoted, marketed, and released as well, the results of which are there to be seen.
