The Akshay Kumar-Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet – Ek Prem Katha is expected to have a great run at the box office. The lack of completion, debacle of last week’s big release Jab Harry Met Sejal and a great word of mouth has helped the film immensely. After a not-so-great start in the morning of Friday, the film picked up substantially in the afternoon and evening. The first day collections stood at an impressive Rs. 13.20 cr.
It has now come to light that Toilet – Ek Prem Katha is doing well even on Saturday [Day 2] and has registered around 20-25% growth. The film’s second day collections is estimated to be around Rs. 16 cr, which will take the two-day total to close to Rs. 30 cr. While the film is decent in multiplexes, the mass centres are performing exceptionally well, probably because the film’s central idea – importance of sanitation and closed toilet - relates with them. Moreover, tax-free status in some centres has boosted collections.
Sunday is also expected to be huge and then there are lot of holidays lined up in the weekdays. Toilet – Ek Prem Katha is hence expected to have one of the biggest first week collections of 2017.
