As was pretty much on the cards, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha grew again on Saturday with collections to the tune of Rs. 6.75 crore. Though the second Friday had seen Rs. 4 crore coming in (which was a dip indeed when compared to the first Friday of Rs. 13.10 crore), it wasn’t much of a surprise since the film was coming from a bountiful week which had two major days of Rs. 20 crore or more. However, it would have been a tad disappointing had the film not grown all over again on Saturday. That was fortunately not the case as the film rose all over again, hence setting the stage for a good Sunday on the cards.
The film has collected Rs. 106.80 crore now and by the time the second weekend is through, Rs. 115 crore would definitely be surpassed. What has to be seen though is whether Akshay Kumar would manage to surpass the lifetime total of Rs. 117 crore too in 10 days flat. That would indeed be an achievement of sorts.
Nonetheless, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha is a Superhit and is the first Rs. 100 crore entry for its director Shree Narayan Singh as well as leading lady Bhumi Pednekar. In fact what has to be noted is that each of the filmmakers who has worked with Akshay Kumar in his last five films has ended up bagging his first century, case in point being Raja Menon [Airlift], Sajid-Farhad [Housefull 3], Tinu Suresh Desai [Rustom], Subhash Kapoor [Jolly LLB 2] and now Shree Narayan Singh [Toilet – Ek Prem Katha]!
