Sanju directed by Rajkumar Hirani starring Ranbir Kapoor released last week on Friday. The film which is said to be a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt hit a massive 4000 screens in the domestic market. Being one of the most keenly anticipated releases this year the film opened on a high note and continued to see immense growth in business as the days progressed.
In this special report, we take a look at the opening week collections of Sanju while comparing the same to previous releases of 2018. Collecting a massive Rs. 202.51 cr in its first week, Sanju has managed to surpass the opening week collections of Padmaavat that had collected Rs. 166.50 cr to emerge as the highest opening week grosser of 2018. If that wasn’t all, the business of Sanju has managed to out beat the first week collections of other releases like Race 3 that collected Rs. 140.74 cr, Baaghi 2 that collected Rs. 112.85 cr, Raid that collected Rs. 63.05 cr, Pad Man that collected Rs. 62.87 cr, Veere Di Wedding that collected Rs. 56.96 cr, and Raazi that collected Rs. 56.59 cr.
Currently, with Sanju still running strong predictions state that the film is more than likely to continue its stellar run at the box office. Also with no new releases hitting screens Sanju that still holds the audience's interest is expected to dominate the box office. Now all that remains to be seen is whether the film manages to become this year’s highest grossing release.
