The Raj Kumar Gupta directed film Raid starring Ajay Devgn and Ileana D’Cruz released yesterday. Though the film received positive response from the critics the morning occupancy rate of the film was less than appreciative. However, despite this sluggish start the film has managed to fare well on its opening day.
In this box office analysis we take a look at the opening day collections of Raid while comparing the same to Ajay Devgn’s previously released films. Collecting Rs. 10.04 cr Raid that released across 3400 screens in the domestic market has managed to become Ajay Devgn’s 10th highest opening day grosser. Not surprisingly, the film which feature very little promotions in its run up to release does not manage to surpass the opening day collections of Ajay Devgn’s previous releases like Singham Returns that collected Rs. 32.09 cr, Golmaal Again that collected Rs. 30.14 cr, Baadshaho that collected Rs. 12.6 cr, Himmatwala that collected Rs. 12.1 cr, Bol Bachchan that collected Rs. 12.10 cr, Satyagraha that collected Rs. 11.21 cr, Son of Sardaar that collected Rs. 10.72 cr, Action Jackson that collected Rs. 10.25 cr, and Shivaay that collected Rs. 10.24 cr.
However, on the other hand the Day 1 business of Raid does manage to outperform other releases like Singham that collected Rs. 8.94 cr, and Golmaal 3 that had collected Rs. 8 cr. With little to no competition from other releases Raid is expected to fare much better over the weekend.
