The two new releases Ram Setu and Thank God hit screens yesterday on Diwali. With both films featuring starkly different content and stars the audience seem to be spoilt for choice at theatres. But from the two releases, which one would eventually emerge as the leader is the question. In the domestic market the Akshay Kumar starrer Ram Setu has taken the lead collecting Rs. 15.25 cr, while the Sidharth Malhotra – Ajay Devgn starrer Thank God isn’t far behind with Rs. 8.10 cr.
However, in the overseas market of U.S.A the Akshay Kumar starrer Ram Setu which saw a wide release across 318 screens has taken the lead. Collecting USD 34,716 [Rs. 28.47 lakhs] the film outshines the Sidharth Malhotra – Ajay Devgn starrer Thank God which managed to draw in USD 24,734 [Rs. 20.28 lakhs] from 196 screens.
In the overseas market of Canada, both new releases Thank God and Ram Setu seem to be running neck and neck at the box office. While the Sidharth Malhotra – Ajay Devgn starrer drew in USD 15,624 [Rs. 12.82 lakhs] from 32 screens the Akshay Kumar starrer managed to collect USD 13,614 [Rs. 11.16 lakhs] from 36 screens.
