Kahaani 2 is the solo release of the week and from that perspective, Sujoy Ghosh couldn't have asked for more as he is getting the best possible platform for his film. The Vidya Balan starrer is primarily a multiplex affair which means the effect of demonetization wouldn't be felt. The plain, easy and simple title means there would be some sort of audiences at the single screens as well, though that would be added bonus for the film. The film would have definitely faced competition from Wajah Tum Ho but that is fortunately not the case now for it since latter had been pushed ahead by a couple of weeks.
The film should take a fair start for itself and since it is not a top heavy film that gains a head-start right from the first show itself, it would all boil down to the evening and night shows. This is how Kahaani [2012] had done as well and eventually Rs. 3 crore had come on the first day. Now Kahaani 2 would be looking at a start of Rs. 4-5 crore for itself and that would be a pretty decent point to consolidate from.
Kahaani 2 has seen decent buzz building for it though one does feel that the franchise factor of Kahaani could have been leveraged all the more so as to heat it up even more en route release. As a matter of fact Arjun Rampal's presence is a good bonus for the film and though one hasn't seen much noise around it prior to release, one expects that to work in the favor of Kahaani 2 once audience check out what is in the offering.
