Back in 2011 when Force had released, the film had collected 28 crore in its lifetime run. The sequel has done better in its run so far, what with 29.35* crore coming in one week itself. In the times when some of the high profile sequels have performed really badly, to see such collections for the John Abraham starrer is a better sign at the least.
The response is actually better than what the collections may suggest since the film has been hurt by at least 30%. While demonetization is continuing to keep people away from theaters (especially single screens where the target audience of Force 2 lies), reduced ticket rates in theaters have put further dent in collections as well. If not for these factors, Force 2 was looking at an upwards of 40 crore quite comfortably after its first week run and that would have put the film amongst the Top-15 openers of the year. Currently it is in Top-25 and it certainly deserved better.
At the single screens, there is not much of a competition for the film in the second week and hence this gives it an opportunity to fetch some more moolah in days to come. One waits to see if the film manages to go past the 40 crore in the lifetime run.
