Two distinct films release this weekend - Dear Zindagi and Saansein. Former is primarily an Alia Bhatt film with Shah Rukh Khan in a pivotal role as well. Hence, it won't be fair to expect the kind of opening that a quintessential Shah Rukh Khan film enjoys. As a matter of fact this is his most unconventional film this decade because though he frequently appears in cameos and special appearances, it is very rare to see him in something like Dear Zindagi where he is playing an integral role but has the story been told primarily from the leading lady point of view.
Moreover, the film is aiming at hard-core multiplex audience, the kind that went to saw Kapoor & Sons and Ki & Ka this year. Former collected Rs. 6.85 crore on the opening day and latter brought in Rs. 7.3 crore. Rest assured Dear Zindagi would see a better start at the Box Office.
Second release of the week is Saansein - The Last Breath, which is a horror musical. The film was supposed to release a couple of weeks back but then took an immediate decision to arrive later once the demonetization news break took place. This was a right move too considering the fact that the film has its prime audience at the single screens and especially in the interiors where ticket transaction would be primarily by cash. Starring Rajniesh Duggall and debutant Sonarika Bhadoria in principle roles, the film boasts of a good look and belongs to the kind of genre (horror musical) that is aimed at the gentry.
