Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal has been trending ever since its posters and stills were released. And when the keenly awaited trailer of the film starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead arrived, the anticipation for the film reached next level. This is also clearly seen in the opening that the movie has taken after it was released yesterday December 1. The Ranbir starrer has collected a handsome Rs. 54.75 crores on its opening day.
By doing that, Animal has created a list of achievements on its name. Firstly, the movie is released on a non-holiday and non-festival. It is not a part of any franchise; it’s the first film in the series. Most importantly, the movie has received adults only certificate and its runtime is as high as 3 hours and 21 minutes. It has also clashed with another film in the form of Meghna Gulzar’s Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur.
Animal is also the highest opening for an adult film. It has also become Ranbir’s highest opener till date. His previous best came last year when his superhero film Brahmastra – Part 1: Shiva opened at Rs. 36 crores.
In its south dubbed versions, Animal has scored Rs. 9.05 crores. Hence, its overall total comes down to a huge Rs. 63.80 crores.
