The Kerala Story 2, meanwhile, showed better legs with a 4.59 multiple, but still fell short of Main Vaapas Aaunga’s extraordinary hold.
This is why Main Vaapas Aaunga’s performance deserves a closer look. In absolute numbers, it may not be the biggest film of the year. But in terms of audience retention, post-weekend growth and staying power, it has delivered one of the strongest box office stories of 2026. A multiple of over 6x is not common. It indicates that the film did not simply benefit from curiosity or initial buzz. It kept pulling audiences after the opening weekend, which is usually the real test for any film.
The Aamir Khan formula, therefore, puts the spotlight on a crucial truth: a film’s real success is not always decided on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
