‘V-Z’ Breaks New Grounds!

After a long, long time, a Hindi film is faring exceptionally well in Overseas. VEER-ZAARA has touched the $ 2.4 million mark in U.S.A. and should cross the £ 1.5 million mark in U.K. the next weekend. The film is faring exceptionally well in Australia as well. It's a lottery!


The new release, HULCHUL, has had a favourable opening in U.K., while AITRAAZ continues to do steady business. In a nutshell, the business in Overseas territory has picked up!



U.K. BOX-OFFICE

  • HULCHUL has debuted at No. 16 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 43,526 [approx. Rs. 36.72 lacs] on 13 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 3,348.

In terms of screen averages, this Akshaye Khanna starrer has had a better opening than DEEWAAR, L.O.C., HUNGAMA, DEEWANGEE, HUMRAAZ, LAAWARIS, AA AB LAUT CHALEN and DAHEK. It's only next to TAAL [£ 4,064] and DIL CHAHTA HAI [£ 3,388].

  • VEER-ZAARA [last weekend: No. 6, this weekend: No. 8] is on a record-breaking spree. In its third weekend, the film has collected £ 199,848 on 50 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 3,997. The total so far has been £ 1,453,287 [approx. Rs. 12.25 crores].


In terms of screen average, VEER-ZAARA occupies the No. 3 position in the U.K. charts, after THE INCREDIBLES [£ 19,743] and BRIDGET JONES - THE EDGE OF REASON [£ 6,181].

  • AITRAAZ [last weekend: No. 15, this weekend: No. 19] continues to stand on its feet despite a strong flow of new releases. In its third weekend, the film has collected £ 23,662 on 14 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,690. The total so far has been £ 184,106 [approx. Rs. 1.55 crores].


  • BRIDE AND PREJUDICE [last weekend: No. 29, this weekend: No. 33] continues to slip. In its eighth weekend, the film has collected £ 4,657 on 8 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 582. The total so far has been £ 5,143,418 [approx. Rs. 43.38 crores].

  • In New York [last weekend: No. 19, this weekend: No. 24], the film has collected $ 19,282 on 3 screens in its third weekend, with the per screen average working out to $ 6,427.

AUSTRALIA BOX-OFFICE

  • VEER-ZAARA [last weekend: No. 14, this weekend: No. 20] is rock-steady. In its third weekend, the film has collected Australian $ 41,461 on 8 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 5,183. The total so far has been $ 255,691 [approx. Rs. 88.34 lacs].
